Foods that increase blood pressure
According to the earlier known fact we very often blame salt for the increase in blood pressure in our body. This common belief is not very much in vogue today and people have started knowing the facts about blood pressure. But let us check out the earlier known belief and see is there such bad affect of salt in case of blood pressure.
After a long route of studies doctors have finally concluded that in many cases salt and its extra use can really affect a person’s blood pressure condition badly but there are many a times in many cases salt doesn’t affect a person’s blood pressure.
This thing or this study has also affected lot of people too; these are mostly people who are related to the food industry. They do not know who are the ones basically affected by the increase in blood pressure in the body. But doctors are giving away the universal advice to doctors; this advice is basically given to keep a check on the amount of salt intake on the body.
Appropriate level of salt:
There have been studies as what should be the optimum level of salt that should be consumed to keep harmful blood pressure at bay, so around 2300mg of salt everyday is an optimum level of salt that should be properly take in the body. But now doctors have believed that 1500mg of salt is now apt for daily intake.
In a study which was published in Annals of Internal Medicine issue in the month of December 2001. This study showed that a low sodium intake in the body can really affect the blood pressure content in the body. According to this study there was a division in the American food habits that was made to make the life much relaxed and relieved with less affect of blood pressure. This study was also based on various classifications that was done in in Americans there were three groups one that 3300 mg of salt everyday, then another group whose daily salt intake was 2400mg and lastly one with 1500mg salt intake everyday. Earlier these participants consumed their daily salt intake and in the later half of the study these participants consumed fruits and fibrous vegetable diets everyday. These diets were also differentiated according to the salt intake.
The results were clear people who ate low sodium diet one sixth of them showed a good response to the diet ad it affected in lowering their blood pressure level. These results were even same for people who didn’t have any blood pressure related problem. They lost the maximum points in the blood pressure level.
There was study that was on subjective basis, this study showed that afro American women whose age is around 45 years show the most reduction in the blood pressure, but on the contrary the white men showed the least response to the low sodium diet they consumed. This was stated by the MD, Hypertension Research Center of Indiana University.
The study had two significant results one was the effect of salt on blood pressure like one can really control the blood pressure by controlling the salt in his diet. Second finding was the fibrous food that affects the body. These foods like fruits and cereals do have a positive effect on the person’s body. These vegetables and fruits not only lower the blood pressure but also reduce the risk of blockage of arteries.
Salt sensitivity:
There are a few people who are much more sensitive towards the salt diet and they are affected by the salt diet. These people can help counteracting their blood pressure by lowering down the salt intake from their food. According to the report that was issued by NHLBI on 2001 according to it the salt sensitivity is really common among elderly, the African American people and in people who have the history of family hypertension, they can expect a lot of such effects by salt. There are nearly 26% of the normal Americans that suffer from salt sensitivity and around 58% of the hypersensitive people do suffer from such sensitivity.
People who are not suffering from high blood pressure:
There are people who are not suffering from high blood pressure and still there chances that they are some times sensitive to salt. According to the same study there were among the 708 people there were many who were not suffering from high blood pressure still showed salt sensitivity. So it is better that one doesn’t take chances and try to take only the required amount of salt.
To tackle the salt:
There are many foods like the frozen foods or the foods in restaurants and luncheons that are really high on salt so, taking these things in account reduces the daily salt intake by cutting down on these food stuffs. While eating or buying the processed foods keep in mind that you only need to take 2300mg so do check the label of these foods to keep a check on salt quantity.
